This is a module that fits in to set-top boxes and other reception units with a Common Interface slot, it acts as a smartcard reader for the selected encryption format. example if you wanted to subscribe to a service that uses Viaccess encryption, you would purchase a Viaccess CAM to insert the Viaccess smartcard. Each provider will tell you which encryption format they use, for example Irdeto, Conax, Cryptoworks, Mediaguard.
Sky subscription viewing cards are not discussed on this page, the only domestic device currently close to an NDS videoguard CAM CI is the dragon cam and we do not currently stock this item. We do however have sky subscription viewing cards, that expats abroad living in Europe can use. More information about these are found or our sky pages. We will also be extending our range of products to include other viewing cards, so check back or contact us if there is something specific you had in mind.
There is not an official CI for domestic purposes currently available for Sky Digital which broadcasts in NDS, however the unofficial dragon cam can be used with a Sky Card, we don't currently stock the dragon cam and cannot answer questions on it, although this may change in the future.

Viaccess II Cam - CI
Common Interface module (CAM) capable of descrambling programmes encrypted in VIACCESS I/II. To decode programmes in VIACCESS I/II with a CAM, a set-top box with Common Interface slot and appropriate smartcard is required. The French Multivision channels use TPS Crypt a derivative of viaccess. as do a variety of other providers.
AstonSeca Cam - CI
Common Interface module (CAM) capable of descrambling programmes encrypted in SECA MEDIAGUARD. To decode programmes in SECA or MEDIAGUARD with a CAM, a set-top box with Common Interface slot and appropriate smartcard is required. As example the Canal group extensively use Seca Mediaguard as their preferred form of encoding.
Irdeto II Cam - CI
Common Interface module (CAM) capable of descrambling programmes encrypted in IRDETO I/II. To decode programmes in IRDETO I/II with a CAM, a set-top box with Common Interface slot and appropriate smartcard is required. Many adult channels broadcast in Irdeto.
Technisat Conax Cam - CI
Common Interface module (CAM) capable of descrambling programmes encrypted in CONAX. To decode programmes in CONAX with a CAM, a set-top box with Common Interface slot and appropriate smartcard is required. Scandinavian channels make heavy use of Conax.
Technisat Cryptoworks Cam - CI
Common Interface module (CAM) capable of descrambling programmes encrypted in CRYPTOWORKS. To decode programmes in CRYPTOWORKS with a CAM, a set-top box with Common Interface slot and appropriate smartcard is required.
Alphacrypt Cam - CI
Common Interface CAM capable of descrambling programmes encrypted in IRDETO I/II, BETACRYPT, CRYPTOWORKS, CONAX and SKYCRYPT. To decode programmes in these formats with a CAM, a set-top box with Common Interface slot and appropriate smartcard is required.
Premiere Cam - CI
Common Interface module (CAM) capable of descrambling German PREMIERE encrypted pay satellite channels. To decode PREMIERE channels with a CAM, a “Geeignet für PREMIERE” (Suitable for PREMIERE) set-top box with Common Interface slot and appropriate smartcard is required.
