The FleXtel Number
A FleXtel Number is a permanent flexible phone number that is not associated with any phone
equipment or to any one location ie a non-geographical number. FleXtel is independent from every phone/mobile provider (e.g. BT,
Cable and Wireless, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Energis etc), so you are free to change location or phone/mobile provider at anytime - day or night - in seconds. Keeping the same permanent phone number active at all
times!
Flexible numbering lets you take complete control of your incoming telephone calls. Just one unchanging number can reach you at any normal telephone wherever you may be throughout the United Kingdom,
without costing you any call diversion charges or monthly service fees. Fax to
email is now available on most flextel numbers.
Re-routing your FleXtel number
Using a single FleXtel "telephone number for life", you can change the destination of your calls 24
hours a day, 365 days a year, and you can do this from any location. In fact, you can control your FleXtel routing from just about any telephone in the world.
Simply call the special rerouting number and enter your FleXtel number and PIN number (using either the phone
keypad or a tone dialler) followed by the new destination for your calls. Normally, your calls will start to arrive at the destination you choose about 30 seconds after requesting the change of
routing.
Total accessibility
Just imagine having a single telephone number that directly connects inbound calls to you wherever you are in the UK, whenever you choose.
FleXtel eliminates any need to give out private home or unlisted numbers but gives you the power to
receive calls on those lines when you want to. By routing FleXtel numbers to your private numbers,
it is easy to take calls there. When you no longer wish to be disturbed, simply instruct the completely automatic FleXtel system to deliver those calls to your office, secretary, answering machine or other service.
Powerful Features = Greater Flexibility
We offer additional features free of charge, which can be activated from your Account, to give you even greater flexibility.
Dialled Number Display™ (DND) - You can setup our system to show which of your FleXtel numbers has been dialled. Now you can answer the call in the correct manner for family, friends,
colleagues, customers, adverts, etc. Full details are given in the User Guide.
Intelligent Call Diversion™ (ICD) - If you are unable to take a call, or are already busy taking a call, you can customise our system to automatically divert calls to other phones so that they
can always be answered. Full details are given in the User Guide.

Don't lose Contacts/Business when you move
Organisations and people do relocate, often from one end of the country to another. The big advantage of FleXtel is that if this does happen, you can take your number with you - even if your new location has a different area code. As soon as you instruct the automatic FleXtel system where to deliver your calls, callers can contact you at your new location within minutes of your
arrival. There is no need to wait for the new phone line number to be confirmed by your cable operator, nor is there a need to tell everyone the new number since you will be using the same FleXtel
number as before.
Business Planning: Call Statistics
Businesses need to be able to plan and budget, so being able to analyse your incoming call data helps you to do this. With Call Statistics you can control overheads, allocate resources and plan
future expansion. This feature is available on all 08 and 0701 numbers and provides you with the following information:
|

How many calls are made to each of your FleXtel Numbers?
Measure the effect your advertising campaigns have on your business.
|

How many callers get the busy tone?
More phone lines might be needed.

Call Statistics are accessed using the link in the 'Actions' drop-down menu of your Account. You can view call data in either monthly or daily format for the last 3 months and also
see daily data up to the previous day.
Avoid other number changes
Number changes get forced on us for a variety of other reasons:
-
Change of phone line service - e.g. a single line to multiple line PABX, or analogue to digital ISDN.
-
Minor Office relocation - even when moving just down the road, your ordinary number can change.
-
Expansion of capacity - e.g. telesales lines need expansion yet there are no spare lines left on that number.
Choose the best mobile phone deal
When giving your mobile phone number to friends, colleagues and business contacts, you are potentially committing yourself to the mobile phone company for years due to the inconvenience of changing
your number. If you use a FleXtel 0701 number instead, you will be free to choose the best deal from any
of the UK's mobile operators without the need to constantly update people. Calls will still be going to your FleXtel number which can be routed directly to your new mobile number, whatever mobile phone deal you may be trying at that time.

Solve coverage, battery or handset problems
Of course there are many other advantages associated with personal numbers and mobile usage. Don't just use your personal number as a mobile "front end", but divert your number to a land line or a
friends mobile if you have coverage problems, flat batteries, damaged phone or if your mobile is stolen. This will ensure that contacts can always get through to you, despite your mobile phone
setbacks.
Save money by not paying for call diversion
With traditional call diversion services, your contacts pay for their call to your number but you then have to pay the cost of a further call from your number to where you actually are.
With FleXtel it's completely different. When you use FleXtel to manage your incoming calls, the caller pays the full cost of the call but this time you do not pay for
redirection, even to mobile phones. By using Intelligent Network technology, call redirection happens at a very early stage in the call, so there is no charge incurred when undergoing call
diversion.
Ex-directory or a directory listing?
It's your choice! You can either be completely ex-directory or choose to get a free entry in the BT telephone directory of your choice and a free business entry in the Thomson Local directory as
well! You can also choose whether or not your FleXtel listing replaces or is in addition to any
existing directory entries.
Your callers will like it!
Your callers will appreciate the service, since contacting you will become so much easier since they will only ever have to remember one number, no matter where you choose to take your calls.
You can even select any available number from a wide choice of memorable numbers to ensure that your contacts really remember your "telephone number for life".

Cost of Calling FleXtel
numbers
Calls to FleXtel numbers are charged by the caller's phone company (e.g. BT, Cable and Wireless, etc.) at a specific rate per minute. This value depends on the phone service used to call FleXtel numbers. For demonstration purposes, we have used BT rates as an example in the table below.

Notes:
Outbound calls are made, as normal, via your existing phone company (e.g. BT, Cable and Wireless etc.) and costs are specific to your phone company's calling rates. FleXtel is not involved in any outbound calls, with the exception of FNP use.
FNP is a free feature of the FleXtel service. Dialling the destination number is also free, as the
cost is already covered by your call to the FNP service (the same as calling any normal FleXtel
number).
* All rates are inclusive of VAT and are accurate at the time of publishing. (for updates click here)

Two different services to meet your different needs:
A FleXtel Personal Number lets you receive calls on your mobile phone
at no cost to you, because your callers are charged by their service providers at about mobile rate. It is ideal for people on the road or for taking out-of-hours calls, where contacting you on a
mobile is vital.
A FleXtel Business Number lets you receive calls on your
landline8 at no cost to you and your caller pays a lower rate that for Personal numbers. These numbers are usually used as the main contact number for business, administration centres and any
application where there is a need for a permanent number without a requirement to extend calls to a mobile.
See the table below for specific routing services as part of the wide range of FleXtel numbers.

* You should be able to receive international inbound calls to your 0701 number, but this depends on which network your callers use. If they use some of the low cost foreign
telephone companies, then these companies may not be able to afford to connect more expensive codes such as 070 Personal or 079 mobile numbers. Please ask your foreign telco for details.
Most foreign telephone companies have the 0870 codes open from abroad and this is the best choice for foreign advertising.

Quality
FleXtel always use BT international links, so you'll receive the highest quality calls.
Since 1992, FleXtel have consistently used secure and high-speed digital exchanges to translate
your FleXtel number to your chosen destination number. This translation occurs instantaneously when
making a call and takes place without any recorded diversion announcement. This means that it is impossible for diallers to tell that their call is being diverted. As a result, FleXtel saves customers money by not conforming to traditional diversion costs, which are usually processed via
your local exchange.
Whenever you want to change location, your security PIN code will allow you to receive calls from any telephone with incoming calls enabled, even a call box in the road!
You can now gain greater control over your calls than ever before by diverting your calls quickly and easily via our website, a simple voice response system, or an SMS text message.
These are non geographic UK numbers.
