Sky DigiDialler Troubleshooting. (VSN2)
updated
=======================================
The following applies to the square unit with the RED LED.
Wiring.
The unit is supplied with a cross over cable, it is important this is used correctly.
(in the case one end was blue and the other end was clear the clear end plugs to the
dialer, the blue end to the telephone line using an appropriate local
adaptor). We may also have supplied a cross over cable using a BT
lead, in which case we have provided a RJ11 Modem adaptor kit as part of
the cost.
The input phone line to the dialler must be connected to pins 4 and 1 of
the RJ11 connector, in most standard modems you normally connect to pins
2 and 3. We assume the line will be connected to standard 2 wire European Telephone CO lines, if it is to be used behind a PABX or with any other type of system please contact us first, the unit will not work on ISDN unless used with an appropriate TA (terminal
adaptor).
Tests.
If the dialler is not working with your digibox check as follows.
Plug a normal telephone into one of the spare input ports of the dialer, lift the receiver and try to place a normal telephone call but using the prefix 121, if this works it is likely the dialer is working but now we need to establish if it is routing correctly. If the call does not route correctly and the call try's to go to 121 then the wiring is probably wrong.
When the dialer is correctly wired and an outgoing call is in progress the RED LED will be on, if the LED is not on, then the wiring is incorrect.
Incoming calls, when connected correctly the dialer should not interfere with the normal operation of the phone lines or system, if the line is permanently engaged and (or) you cannot place outgoing calls assume the dialer is not correctly wired for use with the telephone line.
Further checks, should be done under our guidance.
Sky Statement.
Sky statement does not work - it is not one of the supported services.
Digidiallers:- Restriction in usage:- - none
of the digidiallers listed within our site will support multiroom
discount, nor will they function to connect a digibox to sky from abroad
(or the UK) using VOIP lines. The VOIP codec's effectively destroy the
modem data and will not work, your VOIP provider may support MOIP or
FOIP in which case you might be lucky, but again such connections will
be very hit or miss.
You must have a suitable analogue telephone line, or
analogue service derived from a ISDN TA or an IP ATA with a
service capable of supporting FOIP. Users using ISDN to analogue
adaptors are recommended to use the powered diallers.
If you have any questions regarding this then please
contact us before ordering. More FAQ's about the dialler(s) can
be found at the bottom of this page. The instructions for use can be
found on our support pages.
Power Supply
Generally the digidiallers do not need a power supply, if you have
ordered a unit with a power supply then we will provide a PSU with a
European 2pin mains adaptor, we may also provide powered models without
power supply in lieu of standard models if you have one of these and
subsequently decide you need to connect a PSU to the unit then follow
the instructions on the label and use a DC supply providing 9-12VDC at
100mA with
a barrel connector and positive inner centre.
